The wait is (almost) over. Just as we expected, Nokia N810 WiMAX has been announced from the CTIA floor. However, don’t expect it to hit the markets till summer, when it will be available in areas where WiMAX connectivity is available. No word whether the original N810 specs are changed or not (aside from WiMAX radio, of course).
In the other news, the Finish giant unveiled two new CDMA devices for the North America - Nokia 3606 and Nokia 1606. The first, more powerful one boasts a 1.3 megapixel camera with LED flash, stereo Bluetooth support, microSD slot. On the other hand, the 1606 model is the basic feature phone that neatly doubles as a flashlight, which will work even if the device is powered off. Both Nokia 3606 and Nokia 1606 are expected to be available in Q3 2008. No carrier partners have been announced.
Phones like the N82, N95, N95 8GB or also E90 are running with the great CPU Texas Instruments OMAP 2420. This CPU has an integrated 3D accelerator which can execute highly expensive graphical operations. This topic is especially interesting considering the thing that the phones mentioned ahead are all real power phones being able to display very impressive graphics. That is actually the perfect condition for the new N-Gage platform to create games in an optical dimension never seen before on a mobile handset. But because Nokia decided to make the gaming platform also available for low-performance phones like the N81 and N73, both running with a non 3D accelerated CPU, all games that are currently available don’t use the possibility of 3D acceleration. That’s why all the games look much worse than they could do.
I found a nice video on YouTube showing the differences between a phone with 3D acceleration (N95) and a non accelerated one (N81). Read more… »
Obviously there were several hundred announcements, press releases, events and so on at MWC - however I figured this one is probably worth highlighting - if only because it shows some truly awesome UI - and we all like a good UI don’t we!
nVidia (those of meaty PC graphics card pedigree) have announced their APX 2500 platform.
If you thought the iPhone UI was spectacular, this one is a whole other level - check out videos of it running, here and here.
The specs are also quite spectacular, with up to HD-720p support (yes, that would be the same HD as for TV!), and up to 12MP camera support. Truly a beast of a platform, nVidia demo’d it running a Windows Mobile device, which the CPU and UI are designed for - methinks however they would entertain reworking this for other device vendor references!
Here is a little more detail on the specifications - if you want to check out nVidia’s site you can go here:

Next-gen Mobile devices are coming in force - within 18 months I think we can expect to see some more developments that will result in devices that have an industry impact orders of magnitude greater than Mr Jobs’ device did!
I always thought the Sony Ericsson W910 is a special handset. As a matter of fact, I’ve called it the best non-smart musicphone for couple of times.
So I was not that surprised to learn that GSMA honored it with the Best Handset 2008 award. We’re not sure whether judges like the shake control, auto-rotate feature, 3D jave games or HSDPA — or everything that combined — it’s just the fact that the Swedish-Japanese handset maker has one of the best on-the-go entertainment devices in its portfolio. Yeah, we also suggest the W910 for those not looking to buy a smartphone, but an easy to use yet powerful music phone… Full release follows after the jump.

Yesterday I mentioned that Samir has released NokMote… you’d like to see how it looks like in practice you should keep reading.
You see, my friend Waynder beat me to this and made a quite cool video that shows NokMote in action. Even better, he used the Nokia N95 TV out feature to play Quake on the huge TV screen and Samir’s NokMote to control the game through motion sensing without need to press any buttons and the result is quite impressive. Great combination of the right hardware and right software adds a new dimension in mobile entertainment, brings a totally new experience to mobile game.. .. ..

Last week Dusan wrote about an all black 6300 and there was only one picture available at the time. Chinese site ZOL has got the scoop with a device that looks like it came straight out of the factory and if you thought the original 6300 was handsome then you have to check out these shots.
The Nokia 6300 is a wildly successful product and was the number one revenue and profit generator for Nokia the last quarter.
There’s a rumor floating around the net about a new Sony Ericsson Z660i metallic clamshell.
First a drawing of SE Z660i appeared on Esato boards and then, what looks like an official press picture for the same handset turned up on a Thai (I think) site Se Sites.
